CLASSES
Mastering the art of finishing songs
As a music producer and audio engineer, I've been helping musicians to complete their tracks for many years.
Over time, I have repeatedly observed similar challenges with my clients that make it difficult for them to finish their tracks. Often it's not just one part of the production causing the problem. More often, the interaction between several points in the production process doesn`t work smoothly, leading to frustration in the mixing phase and distracting from making great music. That's why my classes won't focus just on one part such as mixing and how to use a compressor, EQ, etc. (But you will learn that too) Instead, I'll also discuss the interplay between the following key elements which in my experience are critical in the music production process:

-
How to choose the best equipment for your needs and budget and how to set it up correctly.
-
How to improve your room acoustic to make great recordings and judge your sonic decisions reliably.
-
How to develop a clear vision for your track that will guide you in the further production process.
-
How to select the right sound palette for your song.
-
How to build a strong arrangement that supports the intention of the track and makes mixing much easier.
-
How to approach the mix of your song with a clear workflow to achieve great mixes consistently.
-
How to develop a confident and authentic mindset to actually finish and release a piece of music.

For whom are the classes suitable?
The classes are perfect for producers and self-producing artists struggling with finishing their tracks or reaching their sonic goals. The only requirement is that you've worked at least on one track and know the basic function of your DAW of choice. I'm experienced in working in a wide range of styles from pop, hip hop and electronic music and will pick you up where you are with your project right now. Depending on your preference, the lessons take place in my studio in Berlin or online. Classes can be taught in German or English.
About the instructor
Soon after I started out as a musician and playing in bands my interest in recording and production began to develop. I built my first studio at the age of 17 in the basement of my parent's house and started to record and produce music for myself and also for others. Driven by the urge to learn more about the studio world I studied audio engineering and finished with a Bachelor of Arts (Hons.) Audio Production. I began working as the personal engineer for film composer Eberhard Schoener in Munich, where I got deep insights into composing and arranging music and working with orchestra and studio musicians. After several years I moved to Berlin and after a brief freelancing time I started a permanent position at G7 Studios where I worked as a producer and engineer.
Since then I've done numerous projects in a wide range of styles with bands and solo artists from indie-projects and major labels. I've worked in some of the largest studios in Berlin such as Hansa, Soundfabrik, or Funkhaus but also in many home studios and everything in between. I've been making records for more than half of my life. I know what matters, what works, and what doesn't. My successes and failures have instilled in me a deep empathy for my clients and students, and I'm excited to pass on the knowledge I have learned in the last 20 years as a producer and
audio engineer.
